As part of my tour of the UK and Ireland this summer, my latest trip was a flying visit to Dublin in the Republic of Ireland, visiting the famous Jameson Whiskey Distillery as well as the legendary Guinness Brewery.
Bearing in mind that this was a simple overnight stay packed with alot of activity in a short time, it was an early start for me. Courtesy of Ryanair (and Aircoach), I was actually in my Dublin hotel eating breakfast by 9.45am, confirming that sometimes Ryanair does what it says on the tin, and runs to time.
I was also impressed by Aircoach who literally took me from outside the terminal building right to O'Connell Bridge in the centre of Dublin for just 12 euros return.
The main focus of my trip was a visit to both the Jameson Whiskey Distillery and the Guinness Brewery. I don't propose to go into the detail of the tours as this is covered in my Trip Advisor review for those that are considering doing either of these tours when visiting Dublin.
My review can be seen here:
All I can say is that I did 22,000 steps on Day 1 and 18,000 steps on Day 2, and my feet were killing when I got home.
Although getting to Dublin can be economical - my return flight was cheap at £45.00 (plus 12 euros for the coach) - everything else wasn't cheap. Hotels are expensive. A typical beer/drink is expensive. Food is expensive. And taxis can try to charge you whatever they want, it would appear!
Did I enjoy Dublin?
Yes (bearing in mind it was a quick visit), however personally I preferred Belfast overall.
