Going west to east this year on my annual trip to New Zealand, with the first leg of the journey from Manchester to Singapore, courtesy of Swissair with whom I was flying for the first time in my life.

Manchester to Zurich (Flight No: LX381 /Airbus A320)
An initial short 90-minute flight to Zurich with Edelweiss Air was nice and simple with plenty of reassurances during the flight that we will arrive on time in Zurich, despite being 30 mins late departing Manchester.
With only a 50-minute stopover in Zurich this did concern me, but I had no need to be worried as we did arrive on time and the transfer in Zurich Airport was swift and easy.
Btw, Zurich Airport looks very modern from what i saw.. maybe I will see more of it on my return journey..who knows!!
You learn something new every day!
Is Edelweiss Air same as Swiss Air?
Well, yes, it is as Edelweiss Air is a wholly owned subsidiary of SWISS International Airlines and a member of the Lufthansa Group.
Zurich to Singapore (LX176/Boeing777-300ER)

This 12-hour flight was really good. I can't really fault SwissAir in anyway, punctual, comfy, on time and a range of on-board entertainment.
Plenty of leg room as I was on an aisle seat on a 2-seat row behind a 3-seat row, so benefitted from extra leg room.

If I had a criticism, and it's one that applies to other airlines, not just to Swissair. I was seated towards the back of the plane in Row 51 and when the main meal was served only one option was available instead of three that were meant to be offered.
They had run out of 2 options so us fare-paying punters at the back of the plane missed out on having a choice, esp as the remaining dish of chicken pasta wasnt that appealing! or tasty!
More on that subject in a different post shortly.
So generally, really impressed by Swissair
