Five months into this travel blog and one thing I can say is that my mobile phone is absolutely indispensable for making the blog happen.
For all you techies amongst us, just to let you know that ALL the content, wording, images and videos for this travel blog are done purely on my phone.....initially a trusty Samsung Galaxy S10+ (although since I got back from my latest travels I have upgraded to a newer but not brand new Samsung Galaxy S21+).
Even the above image was created on my phone using a new AI app that automatically created the image just from importing the term 'solo traveller' into its memory..and out popped this image..simple eh.
No fancy cameras or videos, just me, my phone and a few important apps!
Talking of apps, (my mate Phil just loves his apps!!) I have found a number of apps that are vital to my trips, whether I am planning a long break or a weekend away.
Here are a selection:
All Currency Converter - ideal when doing multi-country journeys with unfamiliar currencies
Rome 2 Rio - perfect for finding your way from A to B, in a new location, giving you options by car, bus or train
Transit - this is for NZ only, and gives you all the bus times and train times... from my experience, each country has their own version. Singapore has the Metro app, whilst Sydney has the Sydney Transit app and so on. Just check out the local transit app for the country you are in.
Hotels.com - I mainly use this app for booking accommodation on my travels, as they give you a free night for every 10 nights you book. Alternatively, there are many other apps that are suitable such as booking.com, trivago, expedia, etc
Netflix - perfect for filling in time on your long journeys if you download in advance some films
Airlines - i always keep my airline apps together for quick access to boarding passes etc
Generally I create a whole page on my phone for all the apps that I will need for my journey. It just makes it easier to find whatever I am looking for
